Dr. Yvonne Dumbrowski
Dr Dombrowski is a lecturer and research group leader at the Wellcome Wolfson Institute for Experimental Medicine at Queen’s University Belfast. Her group investigates neuroimmune interactions in CNS tissue regeneration with particular focus on innate and adaptive immune mechanisms in myelin repair. The goal of her research is to identify new therapeutic targets that can initiate and enhance myelin regeneration in MS.
Yvonne received her PhD from the Julius Maximilian University of Wurzburg, Germany, and after postdoctoral training investigating innate immune mechanisms in autoimmune diseases at the Ludwig Maximilian University Munich, she moved to Belfast to work in regenerative neuro-immunology. She was awarded a prestigious career development fellowship (The Leverhulme Trust) and started her own lab in 2016 at Queen’s University Belfast. Yvonne has published her work in Nature Neuroscience and Science Translational Medicine and has received prizes and honors such as the prize for best research from the MS Society UK.
